Forgetting the Toothpaste

Toothpaste

So, it often happens that I forget to get something at the store that I need. One time, I kept forgetting to get toothpaste. So, eventually I gave up, and used my little boy’s toothpaste. Now I just keep using it and I bought some more.

I often forget to get things at the grocery store that I need. It’s because he is so particular in what he eats and doesn’t want to eat. I spend so much time wondering what different thing to get him or make for him to eat. So, I end up forgetting the one thing I really needed to get for myself. One time I forgot to get deodorant for myself for two days in a row!

So, I’ve just continued using his infant toothpaste. I have to say that I really like using it. It isn’t a horrible flavor. In fact, it has barely any flavor in it. It’s a clear color instead of the usual white or that icky and horrible blue toothpaste color. It also doesn’t have fluoride in it which is what I look for in toothpaste. Why have fluoride in toothpaste when it’s in the water and thus gets in your mouth when you are brushing anyways. That’s my thinking anyways.

It’s a real pain taking care of a baby/child by yourself. Such things as the above are only a few of the annoyances that happen on a daily basis. Can’t wait till the husband finally gets back. It would feel way too long if he didn’t come home every few months. So, in that respect, it’s not THAT bad.

Going to Bed on the 4th of July

4th of July 2017

This year, I live in a neighborhood with lots of families, so I was wondering how bedtime would go during the fourth of July week. Every evening, there were fireworks being set off and they didn’t stop till midnight usually. However, bedtime went okay for baby. I was rather surprised but happy. I think it helped that he heard them going off and knew what they were before he started on bedtime. He slept through the fireworks each evening. It was rather odd now that I think about it, how he had a hard time sleeping after the firework holiday was over with. Maybe he got used to the fireworks?

I couldn’t go to sleep though. I was envying my baby as he slept through the fireworks. I surely could not do that. I had to wait till 1am till I could even think of sleeping. However, that is my usual time that I end up going to bed anyways.

It’s so odd how a baby can sleep through fireworks, but awaken at other things like noises of someone talking. I do have a white noise machine to cover up some house noises though and I’m sure that helps with house noise. I know though that it did not cover up the fireworks as the fireworks were way too loud.

Gotta write and run as it is nearing my bedtime. I guess I’ll be getting to bed past my bedtime again…..as happens to often.

A Busy Month

It will be a busy time for me beginning next week. I have to make a list of everything I need for myself and baby to take on a plane trip from CA to KS and it will be a two day plane trip because baby can’t sit still for a whole day of flying. He has also developed a huge appetite lately and wants to eat food or breastmilk every hour. I do food one hour and breastfeeding the next hour. I’ll be bringing a lot of baby food for just one flight. I also ordered a portable high chair and crib (for the hotel stays) so we’ll see how that works (or doesn’t work). This will be baby’s first flight so we’ll see how he likes or doesn’t like it.

I will also be living with my sister for about a month till the furniture arrives at the place where we will actually be living. So, living at a place for a month and then picking up and moving elsewhere is gonna be a chore also. I also don’t think baby will like not being able to mess up everything in my sister’s house. At home right now, he has many areas that we allow him to mess up around the house so he can satisfy his curiosity and need to be adventurous. Baby will also need to accustom himself to eating and sleeping in a new environment. So, that might be a little stressful.

When we get to the new house, some baby-proofing is going to need to be done.  I need to get permission to do that so I’m going to try magnetic ones that don’t use screws or whatnot. We’ll see how they work or don’t work.

I also have to find a babysitter/nanny/housekeeper since dad will be going out of the country for his job for a while. Since baby doesn’t like new people and takes a while getting used to someone new, this will be stressful also. Also, not all babysitters/hired help are reliable or actually put in some effort. They just want to do nothing and get paid for sitting down on their butt. So, that is something I need to watch out for also. I may consider getting cameras/security system installed for this reason.

So, yep, a busy month is ahead. I think it will be a busy two months actually. If not longer than that. Dad/husband will be busy too helping us move and getting himself ready for his new post outside the country.

I haven’t forgotten my book. It will be ready for sale eventually.

Note: Image is one I found online. I did not create it.

How Many Books Do You Need?

“How many books do you need?!” That was the question my husband directed towards me the other day. I had ordered four books about weaning. Each book is about a different point of weaning so of course I ordered more than one book.

Weaning Book IMG_0488.jpg

I already finished reading the book in the image above this paragraph. It was about how to decide when is the proper time to actually wean the child. Another book I am reading is about how to do Baby Led Weaning. That book is actually about when and how to introduce solid foods to your baby without the use of purees. The book is below this paragraph. I haven’t finished reading it yet.

weaning-book-img_0491

The other two books I have I have not finished reading yet. One is a recipe book so it really isn’t a book to actually read….just look through. I only read two books at a time. Since I have finished reading one of the four books, I have started reading another. So, I am now also reading Weaning Made Easy. It is in the photo below. Can weaning really be made easy is my question. I’ll see about that soon enough, but I think my child won’t be weaned easily. He doesn’t like chewing food as much as he likes chewing non-food items like cardboard and any other thing lying around….including your hand. He also loves breastmilk from the source and he has never liked it from the bottle.

weaning-books-img_0489

So, I guess I need four books on Weaning so far, but who knows? Maybe I will get another just so that I can be really informed. Weaning is something that needs to be done right or the baby will not get enough nutrition. Also, he can end up really crabby if taken off the breastmilk too soon. Oh, and don’t forget the breastmilk makers. Those things need tender loving care also and it’s best to not wean too quickly for that reason also. Clogged milk ducts and other problems can occur if baby suddenly stops eating or severely decreases his feedings. I have already had clogged milk ducts a number of times already and they are painful. Sometimes he just doesn’t want to eat regularly.

But, yes, I like to read so that I can be informed on things that are important to me. Weaning correctly is very important to me for the reasons stated above. So, while I found four books that I think have valuable information on weaning, I may end up getting another. No, I think I am set with weaning. My next book I am going to get sort of involves weaning though. It is about putting the baby to bed and getting him to sleep through the night without the baby having to wake up to eat every four hours. It’s a no-cry method which is what I want. My baby wakes every four hours usually, so I want to get a book on this. I have already picked out the title because it was a book suggested in one of the books I just read. I just have to find the book and order it. Books, here I come!

Kids and Toys

Before I had my baby, I had certain expectations about toys. I didn’t really want to give my boy fifty million toys. However, I figured out later on that lots of toys are almost a necessity for their development. However, there is a difference between a toy-toy and a learning toy. We have lots of learning toys and that is the difference. So, we have our home basically occupied by baby toys/stuff in almost all the rooms.

We also have things that really aren’t toys but help him develop also. Things like empty water bottles we give him to crush. This helps with muscle development in his hands. We also give him paper and junk mail to rip. That helps with the muscle development in his hands also. He also likes chewing on plastic cups and his sippy cup. This helps with his teething issues. Actually, many things are a “chewie” basically that helps his teething. He even wants our hands to be his chewies but we tell him no for that one. We have the regular chewies that are sold for teething, but he seems to like non-regular chewies better.

So, you see, toys can be basically anything for babies. Some we buy and others just come to us in the mail. Other toys come from when we buy stuff on our grocery list. There’s no end to the items that can be a toy for a baby.

The Nuances of the Ponytail

How hard can making a ponytail be? Hmmm, well, let’s see. I thought it wasn’t too hard until I was doing one for my niece. Usually, I don’t put my hair up and I keep it down. I don’t know why I keep my hair down, but I realized the reasons behind it when I was trying to do a ponytail for my niece. I was trying to do a ponytail, but there’s always a bump leftover that didn’t get smoothed out enough. So, I take it out and try to redo it. It happens again just on another side of the head. How did ponytails get so hard to do?

Ponytail Drawing

Usually, I put my hair up after a shower. However, I don’t try to do it perfectly since it’s just to keep it out of my face while I brush my teeth and wash my face. So, the ponytail usually has bumps in it. Therefore, I never realized that doing a pony tail correctly was so hard. I have tried it again but when my hair was dry. I just can’t make a ponytail without bumps. I found myself getting annoyed and actually beginning to work up a sweat.

So, I have totally given up on trying to make a ponytail correctly for public viewing. It just keeps coming out the way it shouldn’t. Those bumps keep being the result of my efforts. So, you will never see me with my hair up in a ponytail unless it’s done by someone else. It’s just too much effort for something that doesn’t come out correctly. I’ll keep my bumpy ponytails for when I am keeping my hair out of my face and I’m not in public.

Such a seemingly simple hairstyle….but not so simple to do. At least not for me anyways. 🙂

Too Many Thoughts in my Head

Today’s a blah day today.

My brain is on overdrive, but I slept till ten today so it’s playing catch up.

I have too many thoughts in my head to concentrate on one.

I’m thinking about my trip to the mid-west coming up soon.

I’m going there to visit family.

While it will be fun, it still takes some planning.

Of course I’m gonna be taking some pictures while there.

I will be there about a week.

I’m also thinking about my new book I’m writing and illustrating.

I’m thinking about using my niece as reference pictures from which to draw from.

I’m also trying to decide if I should hurry up and publish the book by September.

Or should I wait and take my time to publish it.

I’m sort of thinking on getting it done by September instead of taking my time on it.

These are only two of the various thoughts in my head.

I think I can handle up to three thoughts in my head at one time.

So, I think I have over three thoughts banging around in there.

I feel like I have a subdued  brain freeze.

So, I’m not gonna post a picture for my post here.

Usually I do, but today can be different.
